Born in 1974, high flyer on skis. World champion, Olympic team gold winner in Salt Lake City 2002, Four Hills Tournament All-star. Speciality: the perfect touchdown. Unique identifiers: petrol head – 2005-2011 he put his pedal to the metal as a racing driver.
My Olympic moment: "At the Nagano games, the opening ceremony was overwhelming – the entry of the sumo wrestlers in particular left an impression. Athletically, of course the greatest moment was winning our team medal in Salt Lake City, where we became Olympic champions with a 0.1-point lead. To me, what really makes the Olympics is the community – it's a great occasion for winter athletes to come together."
My sport: "Ski jumping to me was always about the dream of flight. No engine, just a pair of skis on your feet."
My style: "I usually stick to outfits in normal colours, but I also like neon. I think the functional aspect of fashion is second nature to athletes. What you wear has to make sense."
My goal: "Today, my family takes priority. But of course every athlete also strives to find something they can sink their teeth into again after their first career has ended."
